What Have We Been Up To?

As usual, it was a busy week with fitting many different activities in!  Our theme this week was pumpkins!

We added verb bats to our pumpkins!  By this Friday, we should have some falling leaves (with adjectives written on them of course!)
We learned pumpkin facts, completed pumpkin glyphs, compared nonfiction/fiction books about pumpkins, and created an anchor chart about pumpkins!  Yes, it was a lot of orange this week. :)

We also completed our Population Graph.  Did you know that the population of Louisa County is over 33,000 and that the population of Virginia is over 8 million?

Please don't forget about our field trip coming up next Wednesday, November 13th!  Please be sure your child has a way home since we will not return until 4:45 that day.  It's a WONDERFUL trip that we take each year.  It's outside, all day, and lots of walking - but there's nothing better than "hands-on" experience.  Speaking of hands-on, be looking for a note coming home about an "in-house" field trip we are doing.  It costs $1.25 per child and Jamestown and the Powhatan Indians come to US in our classrooms!  Students will be able to touch and discuss different aspects of the Powhatan's life and actual artifacts!

This week also heralds Election Day and next Monday is Veterans Day.  We'll be discussing both of these national holidays and completing activities.  Next theme?  Turkeys (of course)!
